Holy Toledo!

Residents of the Hunter's Ridge Apartments in Ohio found themselves quite the Toledo Surprise when after hearing a loud boom from fireworks, their apartment complex was engulfed in flames. About 100 people were left homeless but they were thankful to have survived.

Last Monday, there was a fire at my mom's house. Also thankfully, she escaped unscathed and the house was fine. Her fire was suspected to have also been started by fireworks from some children in the neighborhood (whom have yet to come forward).

My mom works the graveyard shift so she was asleep when it happened. THANKFULLY, the neighbors on the other side smelled and saw the fire and immediately reported it and banged on her door to wake her up.

My poor mother, having just fallen asleep merely two hours prior was confused and disoriented. Can you imagine waking up to a blazing fire outside your window? We ended up taking her to the hospital to be treated for mild smoke inhalation but she's fine.

Meanwhile, one neighbor kid told my dad he witnessed the teenage girls playing with the fireworks. When I sent the forensic investigator over there, he backed out of his story. :(

What is this world coming to? Why are parents not keeping a better eye on their kids? Why are these kids playing with fireworks unsupervised?

Anyway, possessions can be replaced. I'm just happy to have my mom.
