The Domain Game & Our First Snowfall

Well, it appears that something goofy was going on with the voting mechanism in the previous post. Nonetheless, I do currently own DenverCherryBomb.com but thought I would save that for my pool resume, should I add some more notches to my belt.

In the meantime, Mike and I finally returned home from spending a week in Chesapeake, VA for the 2007 US Open 9 Ball Championships. WOW!!! What an amazing time! I've never experienced anything like it.

Our trip to the airport EARLY yesterday morning was an adventure all in its own.

We flew out on different flights. I was on American and Mike was on Northwest, but we couldn't tell our cab driver that or else he's charge us another fair to drop him off on the other side of the airport (which turned out to be a mere 500 foot trek).

Since my flight was leaving at 6:00a.m. and Mike's was not leaving until 6:15a.m., we got dropped off at American, which happened to be the ONLY ticket counter that was not open yet, not until 4:30 (yes, it was barely 4 o'clock when we arrived). A quick nap and about four kakuros later, they were finally open and I checked in.

We then walked the 500 feet to the other terminal for the Northwest ticket counter which as it turned out, again, was the ONLY ticket counter that was not yet open. I was informed that it wasn't open until 5 o'clock. So, after another handful of kakuros we decided to get in line.

It's not about 1/4 after 5a.m. and there's about eight people in line behind us. I decided to walk up to the counter and use the courtesy phone. The representative I spoke with informed me that although the reservation was made through Northwest, the flight was serviced through Delta (which of course was back on the far end of the OTHER side of the airport).

After a few different lines, I had to leave Mike because I didn't want to miss my flight. I walked upstairs "to all gates" to discover one massive, single file line for security across the length of the courtyard. I waited patiently as random pool players and tournament staff members trickled in for their early flights.

And, after a half hour of waiting in three different lines and having to take two pounds out of his 52 pound bag, Mike barely got checked in and we met up in Denver where our good friend Robert picked us up.

Mike was very excited because it's our first snowfall this winter (I think). Little does he know that in Colorado, the first couple never take. The sun is usually out the next day and, just like right now, the snows all gone. Meanwhile, snow makes me a little depressed. I hate being cold... :(

The rest of the day yesterday was relaxing, full of naps, and with lots of play time catchup with Vegas.
