A Long Day of Travel w/ a Happy Ending

9:02 a.m.
I went running into Dr. Hamilton’s office for my 9 o’clock appointment.

9:47 a.m.

Stopped at the Latte & Bagel shop (for just that) on my way home. Had a quick breakfast and finished packing and getting things together for trip.

1:08 p.m.

Finally got all packed and the truck all loaded. Unfortunately, my flight didn’t leave until 3:36. I must’ve thought it left at 2:30 or something. I was all checked in, so we had almost an entire hour to spare. Rats!

3:19 p.m.

Boarded plane for Atlanta, en route to Charlotte. We left on time.

8:09 p.m.

Plane lands in Hot-lanta. Surprisingly, we’re early. We weren’t supposed to arrive until 8:33. Sweet!

8:39 p.m.

Still sitting on the runway, waiting for a gate to pull in to. Stinky man beside me begins sweating profusely and stinking even worse. Large college girl in front of me begins relentlessly fanning herself and shaking her leg uncontrollably. My entire seat is trembling. I began wondering if maybe she was claustrophobic.

The pilot came on to tell us it wouldn’t be much longer. Meanwhile, we’d been sitting on the motionless plane for half an hour with no circulation. The stinky man next to me gets stinkier and keeps leaning into to me to look out the window. It’s the worst kind of stinky. It smelled like he hadn’t showered in days but thought he could disguise it by dousing himself with cheap cologne. Quit looking! There’s nothing going on out there!

8:42 p.m.

We finally pull up to gate C-14, 9 minutes late. Whew! One minute later, the seatbelt light turns off and people begin getting out of their seats.

8:43 p.m.

The air is finally turned back on. Wow. Just in the nick of time.

8:47 p.m.

I finally de-board the plane.

9:02 p.m.

I picked up a greek salad from some place called “Victory Lane.”

10:15 p.m.

I’m typing this post. 40 more minutes before I can board my flight to Charlotte.

11:15 p.m.

Still sitting at the gate, on the plane, again, with NO air…

11:38 p.m.

We FINALLY depart 42 minutes delayed. Ugh…

12:52 a.m.

I’m standing at the baggage carousel, waiting for my bag when I realized that the car rental counter closed at 1:00 o’clock.

12:57 a.m.

I got all checked in and picked up my bag. Headed outside to wait for the car rental shuttle.

1:56 a.m.

Pulled up to the house and was greeted by my sweet Charlotte Mom. Ahhhh… It’s so nice to be back in this house again.

3:07 a.m.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…

It's nice to be home...

Even if it is for only five days. After 26 days on the road, it's just really nice to finally be out of Vegas.

Being home for only five days before leaving again for Charlotte & Dallas (for 18 more days), means:
  • Sleeping in my own bed with my own sheets.
  • Making my own bed in the morning.
  • Unpacking and doing massive amounts of laundry only to repack again.
  • I give Vegas a little break acting up ("acting up" for him means pulling a piece of used tissue from the trash).
  • Catching up with my neighbors and making sure I'm all paid up for the lawn-mowing.
  • Collecting and sorting through 30 days of held mail.
  • (I'll keep you posted...)
