Back on the Wagon

I just realized that I hadn't blogged in a few days and I wanted to make sure I didn't get cut from Chaddie's "Try These" list so I figured I'd better get on it!

Anyway, this week's been pretty uneventful.

Saturday's turnout was much slower than Friday since it rained for much of the day. It's okay though. Hikle came over and since Buddy was still recovering from his surgery (he tore his ACL the week before), Kendra backed the car up and we all hung out and had a mellow day.

Sunday was the Kicking & Banking workshop at Table Steaks East. That went really well.

On Monday afternoon, I asked Chisolm to play some tennis with me. Boy, am I sore! I was pretty sore last night too, but I managed to get in seven solid quality hours of practice over the past couple nights. I picked up my cue that was getting refinished and hit the books! (Well, the tables!) I'm back on the wagon!

On a side note, I received an email from and my articles will soon be found on their site. That SOOOO AWESOME!!! They get a g'zillion hits a day there.

Having dinner with Hatty & Juan tonight at CPK. Hope Kendra can join us.

Big B'log Sale

A few days ago, my friend Kendra called and said, "Can I ask you a favor? I'm totally prepared for you to say 'no' but can we have a garage sale at your house? I don't really have a through street at my house." To which I responded, "Of course!"So, over the next week and a half, we gathered all our less-desirable items and piled them in my garage. Wednesday and Thurday nights were spent organizing and pricing for our grand opening this morning.

So, I have to admit, this popped my garage sale cherry. I had no idea it was so much work to have a sale! Oh! And, guess what else?! As I was hanging signs through the neighborhood at about 1o'clock this morning, I noticed a giant banner on the main street that read "Annual Neighborhood Sale, Fri-Sat" WOW! How perfect?!!

Anyway, we weren't planning to start until 10o'clock until Kendra's mom reminded us that people would probably be beatin' down the doors by 8a.m. So, believe it or not, I was up (barely) and doors were open by 7:45. And, also believe it or not, people were actually here, shopping! Maniacs!

We had a pretty busy day. Both our moms came by to lend a helping hand and at one point only, there were probably about 15 people in the garage. It was standing room only. It went well, I'd say.
Even Vegas had a good time...
Afterwards, he played some tug-o-war with Kendra.

Oops...

We'll see how it goes tomorrow.

I'm pooped.

That's Dog Sh*t!!!

This weekend, Hikle & I went to the Cherry Creek dog park with our loafies and I couldn't believe how many people didn't clean up after their pets. They put baggies at the entrance. As an intelligent, logical dog-owner, you should grab one whether you think your pooch will need to go or not! I just don't get people! I always make sure I have more than one too, because sometimes they go and then they go again.

A couple people actually did bag their dog's poop.... but just left it there!!! Some other people just laid bags over their dog's poop. What the heck?!?! What kind of world are we living in?!?!? I just can't understand how people can either be so dumb or so inconsiderate!!!

That's all for now. Other than that. I had a really fun weekend. It was nice.

I have been busy though. Kendra and I are planning a yard sale this Fri-Sat so I've just been busy getting that stuff together and preparing for it. She's made two trips already to drop stuff off and we're meeting Wed & Thurs too. It should be fun.

Here's the listing

Random Thoughts...

I received this in an email and I kinda like it. Don't worry. I won't think you're in a hurry if you don't send it out to your friends.

A couple weekend's ago when Hikle's parents were in town, I bought some color changing nail polish. It's pretty sweet! It changes colors in the sun. It starts off clear (w/ sparkles) and ends up a whore red (depending on how much sun there is). See for yourself (excuse my wrinkly toes):

Lastly, I went to this meeting tonight for this camp where I have volunteered to be a counselor at over Labor Day weekend. I am expecting it will be fun. However, there was a lack of "adult" (21&over) counselors to sign up to bunk w/ the "underaged" (under 18) counselors so I have been elected to bunk with ten 17-year-old girls for the weekend. I don't think I even wanted to do that when I was 17. Wish me luck.

The New Mango Diet

Introducing The NEW Mango Diet!
It's new! It's incredibly effective!
It's quick! It's simple! It's only painful for one day!
I lost four pounds on it!

So, as it turned out, it was only a bad mango. Well, that's still what I believe anyway since that's what came up and was still pretty much intact.

Anyway, after puking Wednesday morning and not eating solid foods for two days, I have official lost four pounds.

Seriously though, I don't recommend bad mangos to anyone.

We went to a beautiful wedding last night in Vail. We'll be here till Tuesday. I'll write more later

I jinxed myself!

Oh my gosh! I went to bed early last night with the most excruciating abdominal pain I have ever experienced!

Chisolm got home and suggested it might be gas. I've NEVER had gas like this before. I took six Rolaids and laid in bed in the fetal position for the next couple hours.

I finally got up and tried to go poop or puke or something. No luck. I could tell there were toxins in my body trying to escape. I wish they would so I could feel better.

Finally, at about five this morning, I stumbled up to the kitchen and couldn't hold it any longer. A bad mango from earlier violently fought its way out and I was glad for it. I felt slightly better but my tummy is still in a lot of pain.

The irony of the story, just two days ago, Hikle and I went out for pho-ba and we both tried new flavors. He had the barley and I had the avocado (neither of which we’ll be having again). When we stopped for gas, I leaned over his driver seat and playfully spewed green avocado boba juice from my mouth onto the ground. Well, it was funny at the time. Apparently, I jinxed myself. I will never fake puking again. Okay, maybe not “never” but I’ll remember this experience next time.

Chisolm is off playing golf today with his Vail buddies then has tickets to see Billy Idol at the Ogden Theatre tonight so he won’t be home until later. I didn't even know Billy was still around. Hikle is coming over to m-a-n the situation. Uuuuuuuggggghhhhh…The pain.......

A Very Productive Weekend (and it's not even over yet)

I know. I know. It's super early for me to be blogging since I'm not usually even awake in the double-digits.

I got up early to see Rose off. She got in Friday evening and she, Hikle, and I went to this AWESOME tapas place called Swimclub 32 for dinner (which, now that I've seen it, I would've eaten there just for the website alone - Nevermind, the "This is why you come to Swimclub 32" photos cancel out that thought).

They serve organically sourced, farm fresh produce, meats, and fish in a small plate offering (mini entrees) or large plates. Their dishes are prepared from scratch each morning, and many of the fruits and vegetables are grown in a garden right on the roof of the building! The meal was exquisite!

We headed home early after dinner as we had a huge day ahead of us. Bright & early at 9:30am, Rose & I picked up my mom & Hikle and headed to Cherry Creek for our first of four stops, Felice Bridal where I had my very first experience EVER of bridal shopping. With my mom, maid of honor, man of honor, a mission and a laptop in hand, I vigorously tried on about five or six dresses (I'd have to check the official notes for the exact number). Hikle took thorough notes on each dress while Rose dictated and my mom & I consulted. It was a very scientific process and we didn't want to miss any detail for finding that perfect dress.

Next, we headed to Andrisen Morton where Rose & I were both very excited about from the website until we got there and realized how incompetent the sales person was. She completely didn't listen to us and kept trying to get me to try on some dress that I repeatedly said I didn't like and she didn't know the answers to any of our questions. She was pretty worthless. She wouldn't go get the dresses for us that we said I wanted to try on and when Rose tried to take something off the rack she told her not to touch them and then scratched Rose. She didn't even apologize. That place left a bad taste in my mouth. Fortunately, I didn't find my ultimate dream dress there because I won't be ordering ANYTHING from that place. I wouldn't trust it to get here correctly and in time.

After all that, we'd worked up an appetite (which was good, because it was time for our scheduled lunch). I had the entire day scheduled three weeks ago with the times and places we needed to be and when we would be eating lunch. After a quick stop at Piatti's, we headed off to Priscilla of Boston. They had a large selection here and also found a couple dresses that caught our eyes.

Needless to say, it was a long, exhausting day of bustles and dropped-waists and scoop-necks. I think Hikle now knows more about the various ruches, sweetheart necklines, basque waistlines, and a bunch of other terms that I don't even know, than I think any man should ever need to know. He was such a trooper! Fortunately, there was wireless internet available at the places we went to so he could look up some of the terminology & spelling for our notes (and to post messages on people's myspace pages, apparently). The only thing missing were photos, which are apprently not permitted at these places.

Three stops and about 20 gowns later, we made a quick stop before heading to our final destination, Blue Bridal Couture. Unfortunately, there wasn't much "bridal" or "couture" about this place. Hikle jokingly wondered if it would be like the Hot Topic of bridal stores. Well, unfortunately, it was a bit of a prophecy. It was a pretty scary place with cheap, poorly made "gowns" cookie-cut from the same generic template and florescent, neon bridal party dresses. To top things off, they wouldn't even validate our parking and we had to pay $7 to escape from the garage after less than 20 minutes. Oh well! That was the end of the day for us.

After our long, exhausting day, we went to another amazing place for dinner last night called Deluxe. Chisolm joined us this time. I had the most incredible corn soup, along with oyster shooters, and baby back ribs. I thanked everyone for all their help throughout the day and we all headed home.

In the meantime, Ketchup and Mustard have recently developed some sort of fungus so I've been treating them with aquarium salt and other remedies to nurse them back to health in between hosting friends and dress shopping. If they don't look much better, I think I will probably take them to the vet tomorrow.

Anyway, I just wanted to mention that I feel incredibly blessed and fortunate to have such great friends and caring people in my life.

Four Things About Me

This was sent to me as another one of those "replace my answer with yours and send to all your friends" things. So, as usual, here are my answers:

A) Four jobs I have had in my life:

  1. I was the Pie Girl at Village Inn. (This was my very first job ever and all the servers hated me because they were older and over-weight and I was less than 100lbs and feeding everyone pie. Not that I have a problem with over-weight people, but they were really mean to me.)
  2. I sold chicken at Church's Chicken. (mmmmmm.... Church's....)
  3. I was a Credit Card Operator at an adult phone line center. (Yeah, you read it right. No - I did not take any of the calls. But yes, I did have to talk to the slimy, horny guys that called. Fortunately, I made pretty decent money & didn't stay for very long.
  4. I was The Asian Girl With Dog in an Imax ski movie. (It was originally called "Mountain Magic" but was then changed to something else. I don't think it ever got released in the U.S. but it was a fun day of filming.)

B) Four movies you would watch over & over:

  1. Toy Story
  2. Toy Story II
  3. March of the Penguins
  4. Fried Green Tomatoes

C) Four places you have lived:

  1. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (born & lived there until I was about 2)
  2. Hong Kong (from 2 to about 3)
  3. Aurora, Colorado (from 3 to now)
  4. Cuernavaca, Mexico (for two weeks with a host family)

D) Four TV shows you love to watch:

  1. The Office
  2. My Name is Earl
  3. Forensic Files
  4. Art of the Athlete

E) Four places you have been on vacation:

  1. Holland
  2. Hong Kong
  3. Vietnam
  4. Switzerland

F) Four of my favorite foods:

  1. Sushi
  2. Pho
  3. Boba
  4. French

G) Four places I would rather be right now: (in no particular order)

  1. Sleeping
  2. Shopping
  3. Shooting pool
  4. Having sex (with Chisolm, of course. Sorry - just being honest.)

I) When is your Birthday & what is your sign?
